iContact Pricing – is it good value?

iContact prices vary on a sliding scale depending on how many subscribers you have. Here’s the breakdown:

Contacts iContact Annual
250 $8.46 $91.37
500 $11.90 $128.52
1,000 $16.15 $174.42
2,500 $24.65 $266.22
5,000 $39.95 $431.46
10,000 $62.90 $679.32
15,000 $92.65 $1,000.62
25,000 $126.65 $1,367.82
35,000 $203.15 $2,194.02
50,000 $322.15 $3,479.22
75,000 $449.65 $4,856.22
100,000 $594.15 $6,416.82

Is this sliding scale a good thing or a bad thing?

It depends how you look at it. If you only plan on having a small number of subscribers (less than 1000) then the sliding scale works in your favor. You can also argue that once you are above 1000 subscribers then your return on investment should more than offset the increase in price as your subscriber numbers increase.

However, the other way of looking at it is by comparing it to another service such as Getresponse. They don’t have a sliding scale, so you pay the same each month ($18) until you hit 10,000 subscribers. So for 10,000 subscribers you are paying $18 using GetResponse, but $62.90 a month for using iContact. It’s up to you decide whether the difference is of consequence or not. Personally, I don’t mind paying a bit more for what I believe to be the better service of iContact.
